Jabberwocky

Meet Jabberwocky aka "Jabbers", "J n' H", of "Yo Jabba Jabba"

Adopted from a rescue in Arkansas, he is a little over a year old, born in May '09, he has spent nearly his entire life in the shelter. Though very well loved by his caretaker, Lucy, she hoped andy prayed that he would finally find a forever home. His sister was adopted not long after she was spayed as a puppy and he continued on at the shelter and he missed the "puppy window" to be adopted. He became a full grown puppy and no one seemed to want him.

He is so naturally laid back that he doesnt have that bubbly personality that would have him jumping and barking at the kennel door at the shelter which is my biggest guess why he hadnt been adopted. To be honest, I think he may even be mute! Though more likely he is just incredibly quiet.

I found him on Petfinder.com and immediately fell in love with his picture. I was wary of adopting a dog I had never met before but Lucy and I talked back and forth for nearly a month and through her, I got to know him and she got to know me and she was very excited that he would be coming to live with me.

Finally the day came that he was put on the transport, P.E.T.S (the same one on animal planet...go figure) and a couple days later Im standing in a park and ride lot with 30 some odd people waiting for the transport to arrive. There was a very nice gentleman who gave a nice speech on what to expect and not expect from our new furry family members and how to handle introducing them into their new homes. Just thinking about my boy nearly had me in tears. Finally the truck came and we all stood in line to receive our paperwork and then our dogs. I was toward the end of the line and I watched happily as each dog and puppy was united with their new family. Some came out tails wagging and others were very very scared but all families were smiling and happy to see their new beloved pet. Then it was my turn. Jabbers came off the truck with no problem and his leash was handed over to me with tears running down my face. He was a bit concerned with who I was and being out in the open so we walked a bit in the shade by the trees and it didnt take long for him to find comfort in my presence. By the time we got home he was snuggling up to me and loving the big hugs I kept giving him.

He is finally home.
